Iniciada em 2012 com a promessa de garantir abastecimento de água para quase 600 mil pessoas de 35 cidades paraibanas, as Vertentes Litorâneas, localizadas entre o Canal Acauã e Araçagi, vão receber uma nova remessa de recursos neste ano.
A ordem de serviços foi assinada pela ex-presidente Dilma Rousseff (PT) e pelo ex-governador Ricardo Coutinho. O intuito era ter um canal que pudesse receber as águas do Eixo Leste do Projeto de Integração do Rio São Francisco.
Ao Portal MaisPB, o Ministério do Desenvolvimento Regional informou que a previsão é que de a obra possa estar pronta entre 2024 e 2025. A estrutura contará com três trechos distintos, sendo que os dois primeiros somam um total de 91,34% das obras concluídas. O terceiro ainda não licitado.
Para este ano, segundo a pasta, serão repassados R$ 180 milhões, como está previsto na Lei Orçamentária Anual de 2023. Na semana passada, no dia 6 de abril, um repasse de R$ 50 milhões chegou aos cofres do Estado. A expectativa é de que outros investimentos cheguem durante o ano.
Com isso, apenas para as Vertentes Litorâneas, o Governo Federal vai disponibilizar mais de R$ 1,2 bilhão, e o Estado paraibano ajudou na conta, com mais de R$ 141 milhões investidos. Após concluída, a nova estrutura, de 130,63 km de extensão, deve oferecer mais segurança hídrica às populações de diversas regiões da Paraíba.
No ano passado, o ex-presidente Jair Bolsonaro (PL) entregou o primeiro lote do empreendimento, em Itatuba.
Outras obras no Nordeste
A Paraíba não é o único estado que será contemplado com obras de importância para as populações mais afastadas dos grandes centros. A Adutora do Agreste Pernambucano e o Cinturão das Águas do Ceará também fazem parte do pacote do Governo Federal. Junto com o investimento na Paraíba, o valor só neste ano será de R$ 426 milhões.
Além de terem os mesmo prazos (entre 2024 e 2025), as obras também vão buscar dar ainda mais solidez à população de áreas de Pernambuco e Ceará que sofrem com a seca. O objetivo também é implantar e gerir projetos de irrigação e garantir a proteção e defesa civil da população, com atuação na gestão de riscos e desastres.
