O governador João Azevêdo realiza, às 10h desta quarta-feira (19), Dia dos Povos Indígenas, uma série de entregas em Baía da Traição, no Litoral Norte paraibano, tradicional reduto dos potiguaras. Entre as ações, está a assinatura de ordem de serviço para o asfaltamento de vias da Aldeia Jaraguá, que hoje são em paralelepípedo.
Desde a primeira gestão do governador João Azevêdo, iniciada em 2019, o Governo do Estado tem realizado uma série de ações para oferecer dignidade aos povos indígenas — que, na Paraíba, são representados pelas etnias potiguara e tabajara, esta última habita o Litoral Sul paraibano. Em janeiro, por exemplo, os povos indígenas foram homenageados na 35ª edição do Salão do Artesanato Paraibano, promovendo dignidade e valorização da cultura dos povos originários.
Além da assinatura de ordem de serviço para o asfaltamento de vias da Aldeia Jaraguá, o chefe do Executivo estadual fará, ainda, a entrega de 100 mil larvas de alevinos (tambaqui, tilápia ou similar), uma tonelada de sementes de milho, uma tonelada de sementes de feijão, meia tonelada de sementes de inhame, além de mudas de árvores nativas, com destaque para o jenipapo.
Histórico de valorização — Desde 2019, o Governo do Estado tem promovido uma série de políticas públicas visando à dignidade e à valorização da cultura dos povos indígenas. Entre as ações, estão o combate à insegurança alimentar nas aldeias, com a entrega de alevinos, sementes de milho e feijão, além da distribuição de cestas básicas, medida que ganhou ainda mais importância durante o período mais grave da pandemia; acesso a linhas de crédito pelo Empreender-PB na modalidade Mulher, que beneficiou as indígenas potiguaras, contemplando toda a diversidade de empreendimentos.
Outras ações destacadas são cobertura da Patrulha Maria da Penha, programa-modelo na prevenção e na punição a violência doméstica e sexual, e implementação da Escola Cidadã Integral Técnica Matias Freire, com um projeto pedagógico voltado para contemplar a cultura indígena, assim como a realização dos Jogos Indígenas.
